Rocky Mountain Field Institute

What

RMFI serves as nonprofit stewards of public lands in Southern Colorado. Last year, we engaged over 900 community volunteers and contributed 35,000 work hours towards maintaining public lands at 25 different project locations around Southern Colorado. In 2022, we actively improved over 10 miles of trail from our beloved local trails to Southern Colorado’s awe-inspiring fourteeners.

Why

Rocky Mountain Field Institute has cared and loved for our public spaces for over 40 years. Having safe trails that promote the health of humans, wildlife, and the natural environment are imperative for cohabitation. Additionally, our local trails support the economic development of the Pikes Peak Region, as more than 6 million visitors annually come to experience our public lands and cherished places.

Needs

To accommodate our growing staff and operations, RMFI continues to need 4X4 Trucks! And as always, we are welcome new volunteers!

Did You Know

Over the past four decades, RMFI has engaged over 33,000 volunteers and over the past five years, has restored over 107,000 linear feet of social trails.

“The RMFI field staff were communicative, supportive and facilitated a great morning of work. It was great to get outside, get my students outside, and to volunteer right near our own campus.” — David Havlick
