Ahavah Community Initiative

What

Ahavah Community Initiative connects people and families experiencing food insecurity to locally-farmed, regeneratively-grown produce through free memberships to our local CSA program. Memberships include a weekly bag of fresh vegetables along with discounted (or free) farm tours, classes, and events centered around healthy living and environmental consciousness.

Why

Connecting people facing food insecurity due to finances with fresh produce is an important service others are not offering. Most food banks offer non-perishable goods (canned or boxed), which can be full of preservatives and lack the nutritional value of their fresh counterparts. People with allergies and food sensitivities struggle with processed foods but can eat most fresh vegetables without negative reactions.

Needs

Board members, volunteer gardeners, CSA baggers, CSA representatives, compost managers, project assistants

Did You Know

Agri Business Review Magazine has awarded Ahavah Farm as being one of the Top Ten Most Sustainable Farms of 2023!

“When my hubby was diagnosed with a major health issue, Ahavah heard and donated a share. At the time, I had hardly heard of a lot of the veggies, let alone eaten them. Now they are delicious staples in our home. We love being part of this FARMily.” — Dezaree H.
