It’s our stated goal for Give! to be a transformative experience for every participating nonprofit. We’ve seen the positive impact of the media exposure, mentoring, fundraising and capacity-building Give! provides, but it’s always a thrill to see how Give! feeds into a nonprofit’s unique mission.
For example, here’s how Give! was able to support the Trails and Open Space Coalition, in the words of TOSC’s own Susan Davies. Take a look, and pat yourself on the back — by supporting Give!, you’ve shared in the wonderful work TOSC and all the other Give! alumni do for our community!
“El Paso County has 2000+ nonprofits. All rely on the generosity of the people in this region,” Davies says.
“To be included in the Indy’s Give campaign is an amazing opportunity for smaller non profits like ours — the Trails and Open Space Coalition. Not only does it give us a platform to tell readers about what we do and why we matter, but it brings us potential volunteers willing to help meet the needs in our local open spaces, regional parks and on our trails. And it provides much-appreciated revenue for advocacy. Give 2011! means we spend more time on our mission and less time fundraising in 2012.
“Plus everyone who participates — whether nonprofit or donor — has so much fun with the ‘friendly competitions’ and ‘donor rewards.’
“Thank you John Weiss, your tireless staff and all the partners who made Give 2011 such a big success for all participating nonprofits. And thanks to you – the readers – who generously contributed.
Denver, Boulder – eat your heart out. We have Give!”

Some Give! alumni have told us the best thing about their participation in Give! wasn’t the additional funding they raised — what they really prized was the chance to learn how to market themselves to local media.
Not that you shouldn’t support the Diabetes Community Center with your time and dollars anyway, but look at them tearing it up on FOX21! They’re one of the smallest, newest nonprofits featured in Give! this year, but they definitely know how to make an impact. Great job, guys!
