"My daughter has been ALIVE this week and so thrilled about each and every minute spent at the farm!"
– Theresa Terrones Ritz, Principal, Stetson Elementary School
Venetucci Farm
WHAT WE DO
We engage children in all aspects of healthy food production, from
feeding the soil to feeding themselves. The focus of our hands–on
classes for local elementary schools is on seeds, soils, good bugs/
bad bugs and farm animals. We also offer farm classes for children
during the summer months.
Our annual October pumpkin giveaway allows us to engage over
6,000 young children in the wonders of farm life while honoring
the legacy of the Venetucci Family who began the tradition over
70 years ago. After visiting the pumpkin patch, students dig in
the worm box, shell pinto beans, sift compost, and/or feed our
chickens and pigs.
WHY WE’RE GREAT!
We are the Pikes Peak region’s only large "urban farm," ideally
situated for providing opportunities to learn about the source of our
food and what it takes to grow it. On our 200–acre farm, people have
the opportunity to experience first–hand the connection between their
health and the health of the soil, water, plants and animals.
