We build community through unique organic gardening plots. Some have raised beds for the elderly and handicapped. Others are gardened by organizations that help feed the hungry. One has a growing dome greenhouse where community garden classes are held. Come see our demonstration vegetable garden at historic Harlan Wolfe Ranch or attend one of our monthly vegetable garden classes!
By teaching others how to garden in this challenging climate, we are helping Colorado Springs become more sustainable. Each year over 3,000 gardeners at every level of experience attend our classes. We even partner with School District 11 to grow organic produce for the students’ lunch program in Galileo Math and Science school’s 42-foot geodesic dome greenhouse. As more people return to gardening, we are here to help.
Thanks for giving us your birth year. There is a special matching grant available to the organization in each category that garners the most donations from folks in their 20's and 30's. One of the big focuses of this campaign is to encourage younger citizens to become more active donors.
When Give! ends at the stroke of midnight, December 31, 2012, our goal is to have raised more than $800,0000 -- that's $100,000 more than we raised last year. To help us on our way, generous local businesses, foundations and individuals have pledged more than a quarter million dollars in Matching Grants and Friendly Competition Awards for our 58 participating nonprofits.
