The Friends of Red Rock Canyon preserve and enhance historical, geologic and natural features of Red Rock Canyon Open Space. We advise the City on issues affecting the space and organize volunteer trail building, maintenance, fire mitigation and cleanup efforts. We keep our membership and the public informed through our web site, informative brochures and maps, and our newsletter, the Red Rock Rag.
Red Rock Canyon Open Space is the primary recreational attraction on our City’s west side, encompassing plentiful wildlife, historical sites, and unique geological formations. The recent drought has turned one of our gems, the Red Rock Canyon Pond, into an eyesore and threat to local wildlife. In partnership with the City, we’ll work to restore the pond to its former glory.
Thanks for giving us your birth year. There is a special matching grant available to the organization in each category that garners the most donations from folks in their 20's and 30's. One of the big focuses of this campaign is to encourage younger citizens to become more active donors.
When Give! ends at the stroke of midnight, December 31, 2012, our goal is to have raised more than $800,0000 -- that's $100,000 more than we raised last year. To help us on our way, generous local businesses, foundations and individuals have pledged more than a quarter million dollars in Matching Grants and Friendly Competition Awards for our 58 participating nonprofits.
