What

We provide life-altering experiences for children ages 8 to 18 through the magic of music. Musicians go through auditions every year for placement in one of our seven ensembles. Then, they learn how to work cooperatively to produce great art. Through numerous performance opportunities and national and international tours, they share the music and heart and soul of the Pikes Peak region with thousands of people every year.

Why

We bring great music to audiences that often don’t get to experience the magic of the orchestra. And even more important: we share a model that runs counter to what the world expects in this day and age. Our musicians are taught to work together through cooperation and hard work. And through our “Mozart Strings Project,” we make sure that any child who wants to play the violin, viola, cello or double bass will!

Did You Know?

Music training is essential for optimal cognitive development; children benefit in every part of their lives those without it are at a distinct disadvantage.

When the downbeat is given, these kids put out some of the best musical sounds that can be heard in Colorado.
The late Lawrence Leighton Smith, Music Director Emeritus, Colorado Springs Philharmonic
